    A New investment Nan-Chung Petrochemical corp. was on stream. Capacity: MEG 300,000MTS/year, invested by CMFC and Nan-Ya plastic each has equal shares of 50%. In the same year, CMFC has completed the second expansion of the poly-esterification plant.

    CMFC has purchased the technology from Teijin Limited corp. of Japan and built the 330 kta polyesterification plant in Dashe township. At the same time, we have built the 4.17 gw of the co-gen plant to provide the electricity power for the entire plant complex.

    In July, we Constructed another chemical plant to produce nonylphenol at Tashe industry park and provided one of the material to produce the nonionic surfactant for the PAECC plant.

    We had applied the increment of capital up to five billion NT dollars to built the 25 kta nonyphenol plant and another 12 billion NT dollars of the 41.7 GW co-gen plant in lieu to diversity the business risk.

    In December, The first ethylene glycol (EG) plant was constructed at Dashe industrial park of Kaoshung. The designed capacity of this EG plant was 50,000 tons per year.

    We had installed six spinning machine as well as one set of cellophane equipment.

    By providing the equipment of the Hwalon division , we cooperated with the Teijin corporation of Japan to form a joined venture company Hwalon. This new Hwalon company was not a subsidiary company of CMFC. It was a separated self-running company.

    We invested a new company, the Union Nylon Corporation. This factory produced various denied of nylon filaments.

    We had in cooperated with American Chemtex to equip one set of spinning machine at our cellophane plant site. The original machine has a low spinning speed of 100m/m with a daily production rate of 5 tons only. The machine had to reduce to 70 m/m due to the control problem.

    To fulfill the demand of the domestic and international market, we manu- factured a variety of cellophane products.

    The first rayon filament was on line production. The technology is from American Wanco with a daily production rate of 4 ton per day in a total of 22 spinning machines.

    On 28th of April, the Toufen plant geared in the production of rayon filament and rayon staple filament and rayon staple fibers. This Made us the first manufacture of the man-made fiber in Taiwan.

    The first man-made fiber plant was built in Toufen, Mouli.
